Hashimotos Protocol

Patient Protocol

The following protocol is designed to reduce the autoimmune inflammation which disrupts the function of the thyroid gland. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is more a problem with leaky gut and immune dysfunction than an actual problem with the thyroid gland itself. When the immune system becomes irritated from chronic leaky gut, the body begins to attack its own thyroid gland which increases symptoms of low thyroid – fatigue, cold body temperature, constipation, hair loss, weight gain, etc. The nutritional support found in the protocol below is

Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis Diet Plan

Individuals suffering from Hashimoto’s, with elevated antibodies, must try to remove antigenic, inflammatory foods from their diet. Since autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s depend on molecular mimicry as a condition to kick-start the autoimmune process, removing antigenic foods is a necessary strategy in every case. These individuals do very well on an Autoimmune Paleo kind of diet. Hashimoto’s patients should be strictly gluten, soy and dairy free with some additional benefits from avoiding corn and basically all grains. Doing this helps to reduce inflammation a great deal and aids in the healing and sealing of the leaky gut.
