SIBO Protocol
SIBO – Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth
Patient Protocol
This SIBO protocol may be used in conjunction with the Oxalate protocol for 90 days.
During this SIBO protocol, avoid taking any probiotics, especially during the first 3-4 weeks as they may cause bloating or discomfort.
To remove the unwanted bacteria/parasites thoroughly from the intestines, it is helpful to use a variety of bug-killing supplements. By rotating the products, there is less chance that the bacteria will become resistant to the treatment. The goal is to rotate supplements between Groups One and Two every 4 days.
Follow this rotation schedule for the next 90 days:
Days 1-4
Days 9-12
Days 17-20
Days 25-28
Days 33-36
Days 41-44
Days 49-52
Days 57-60
Days 65-68
Days 73–76
Days 81–84
Days 89-90
Days 5-8
Days 13-16
Days 21-24
Days 29-32
Days 37-40
Days 45-48
Days 53-56
Days 61-64
Days 69–72
Days 77–80
Days 85–88
This rotation has proven helpful for many of our patients with chronic SIBO issues.
Most people see results by 4 weeks, but stubborn cases of SIBO may require an extended period of treatment from 3 to 6 months.
Group One
Nutricidin – 1 capsule 3 times per day with meals. Nutricidin contains aromatic oils which work as well as gold standard antibiotics at killing bad bugs, and also contain proteolytic enzymes and heavy metal chelation agents to absorb toxins released by biofilm breakdown. This cleanses the bowel of bacteria/viruses/yeast/parasites.
Spectrum-BR – 2 tablets 3 times per day with meals. Oils of berberine are very effective for removing more bacteria/viruses/yeast/parasites from the GI tract.
Group Two
B Cleanse – 3 capsules 2 times per day. Blend of powerful anti-microbial herbs and mushrooms to promote clearance of toxic bacteria/viruses/yeast/parasite from the GI tract.
Grapfruit Seed Extract – 1 Capsule 3 times per day with meals. Shown to be an immune system modulator, anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, and powerful broad-spectrum antimicrobial
Additional SIBO Support Products are to be taken each day for the first 90 days.
L-Glutamine Powder – 2 scoops 3 times per day with or without meals. Pure L-Glutamine supports healthy digestive, immune and muscular system functions. L-glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in human muscle and blood plasma, supporting cellular integrity throughout the body and brain. It is a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning the body’s demand for it increases during instances of stress and/or prolonged physical activity.
D3 10,000 w/K2 – 1 capsule per day
Stress Essentials Relax – 2 capsules 3 times per day with meals. A comprehensive formula to support a better sense of relaxation – provides a healthy balance between GABA and glutamate neurotransmitters.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth
SIBO INTRODUCTION
With overuse of antibiotics and stressed-out, busy lives digestive issues have become an epidemic. SIBO is a challenging problem that is very difficult to treat because it is caused by several issues happen in gat once. Using traditional medical methods has proven to be ineffective at solving this digestion problem. This plan will give you the necessary tools and the latest research to solve SIBO naturally and prevent it from coming back.
Prevent and Eliminate SIBO naturally
➢ In this plan you will learn the main causes of this common gut problem & the most effective diet for dealing with SIBO issues.
➢ It is clear from your symptoms, history and/or lab testing that your body is dealing with an imbalance of bacteria and micro organisms in the intestines. This bacteria poses a real threat to your long-term health as it causes malnutrition and vitamin imbalances.
➢The bacteria are living where they don’t belong, in your small intestine. They are consuming your food, vitamins, supplements and the like and releasing toxic by-product.Under normal circumstances we gain strength and healing from the food we eat;when SIBO is present we don’t benefit in the same way.
➢Having this imbalance in the gut leads to malnutrition, which causes other problems like hypoglycemia, sleep problems,anxiety/depression, and a host of other chronic conditions.
Research is clear that SIBO has three main causes:
SIBO is a sign that something in your digestion system has gone wrong, not a disease in and of itself. We will work together to uncover the root causes (the reason the bacteria are overgrowing),and there can often be several at a time.As we treat your SIBO we may find food intolerances or other GI issues.Don’t be discouraged as we will work through these together. Yeast and fungal overgrowths commonly overlap with SIBO and are often greatly improved with the same protocol
Important things to consider
- Healing takes time and will not occur overnight.
- There is no magic pill for SIBO and it’s important to embrace the process, there can often times be a period of trial and error.
- Progress at times will feel like one step forward and two steps back.
- Herbs and natural antibiotics are not without side effects.
- Toxins released by bacteria as they die can temporarily cause more symptoms than the bacteria themselves.
- Recovery goes way beyond just getting rid of the bacteria overgrowth.
- Bemindful of your stress levels. Don’t let the stress of treating SIBO become a new impedimentto your healing. Incorporate quite meditation or gentle movement and stretching into your dailylife.
- Don’t over-sanitize your life, get in the dirt and encourage your whole microbiome to thrive.
The following pages include recipes, a food journal, and your nutritional therapy intervention which is centered around the SIBO Specific Diet.It is a combination of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet(SCD) and the FODMAP diet, a type of an elimination diet that restricts carbohydrates by their structure in addition to limiting fermentable food items. The idea behind the diet is that only single sugar molecules (monosaccharides) can be absorbed by the small intestine and that other carbohydrates (disaccharides, polysaccharides) must be broken down (fermented) by bacteria and yeasts that live in the intestinal tract. The SIBO specific diet does not follow the individual “rules” of either the SCD or FODMAP diets. Rather, it combines aspects of both
The SIBO Specific Diet is considered highly restrictive and requires careful observation of serving sizes and individual portions
Managing symptoms and side effects
Hydrate: try to drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
ICV massage: Close the ileocecal valve with massage. This is the “border check” valve that keeps the microbial ecosystem of your colon separate from your small intestine. A lazy or flimsy valve is going to ensure the problem persists by letting bacteria up and into the small intestine where it doesn’t belong.
Implement neuro-activation techniques: like gargling, singing, gentle stretching and deep breathing that wake up the brain to remember its role in intestinal motility. This helps alleviate constipation from one of the root causes
Detox: if dealing with bacteria die-off which can cause diarrhea, constipation, bloating, and/or nausea.Incorporate a binder such as activated charcoal at the end of day and coffee enemas in the morning.
Dealing with abdominal pain: drink a strong peppermint tea and/or rub peppermint oil on the belly.
Full-spectrum hemp oil: helps manage IBS issues, activates immune system, and reduces inflammation in the gut, and helps repair leaky gut
